Cue

Privacy Policy

Effective 23 August 2026 ยท Rhys Kentish

Cue is a teleprompter that follows your voice and responds to your hand gestures. It is built so that the sensitive things (your camera, your microphone, your scripts and your recordings) stay on your phone. This policy explains exactly what leaves it.

Camera

The front camera is used during a session to recognise hand gestures (thumbs up, raised hand, pointing) and, only if you turn Record this session on, to record your takes. Gesture recognition runs entirely on your device; camera frames are never uploaded anywhere.

Microphone and speech

Cue listens while a take is live so the script can follow what you say. Speech recognition runs on your device using the speech engine built into iOS or Android. On iOS, if the on-device model is unavailable for your language, Apple's speech service may be used as a fallback under Apple's privacy terms. Cue itself never stores or transmits your audio except as part of a take you chose to record.

Scripts and takes

Scripts are stored on your phone. On iOS they can also sync through your own iCloud account; we cannot read them. Recorded takes are stored only on your phone, in the app, until you export or delete them.

Subscriptions

Purchases are handled by the App Store or Google Play and managed through RevenueCat, which receives an anonymous app user ID and your purchase receipt so your Pro entitlement works across devices. We do not see your payment details.

Analytics

Cue records anonymous product analytics (for example "a take was finished" or "the paywall was shown") through TelemetryDeck, which is designed not to collect personal data. Events contain no script text, audio, video or identifiers beyond a hashed installation ID.

What we don't do

Your choices

You can withdraw camera, microphone and speech permissions at any time in your phone's Settings; Cue will keep working as a manual prompter. Deleting the app deletes all scripts and takes on that device.
